ICM/ME Portrait (February 2023)
There are over a 100 working gas lamps dotted around the Malverns and it’s said they’re the inspiration for CS Lewis’ Narnia gas lamps as he attended Malvern College as a schoolboy.
For this series of ten gas lamp photographs I alternate between more otherworldly art photography and lamps in-situ within the town. I thoroughly enjoyed my gas lamp project, especially the more delicate, art photography which depict various gentle dawn colours and the criss-crossing of branches which frame the lamps. It adds to the magic of the lantern don’t you think? Very Narnia-esque!
This particular shot was taken by the wonderful Malvhina Spring which has served the town well for many years.
